Ecommerce Shipping and Delivery in India

Connect shipping and last-mile delivery to your Softpage store so orders leave the warehouse and reach customers across India.

Selling online in India fails in the last mile more often than in the product photo. Pincodes, COD decisions, RTO, and “the executive called from a different number” are the real work. Softpage delivery connects orders from your store to shipping and last-mile so the packer is not maintaining a private Excel of AWB numbers.

From packed to out for delivery

Once a customer pays on the online store (see payments), the order has to become a shipment. Softpage delivery is that handoff: serviceability, partner assignment, and tracking attached to the same order the customer already placed. You should not copy-paste names into a courier dashboard as the default workflow.

Counter sales can need shipping too. A POS bill with “send to home” is still a Softpage order. Keeping POS and delivery on one platform avoids the classic bug where the website knows the shipment and the shop floor does not.

What Indian ecommerce shipping actually requires

  • Pincode checks before you promise a delivery date you cannot keep.
  • A label and tracking ID the customer can open without calling you.
  • A path for returns and failed deliveries, which are normal on COD-heavy lanes.
  • One place to see whether the order is packed, in transit, or delivered.

Softpage is built as a commerce platform with delivery inside it, not as a standalone courier company. Your commercial contract with a logistics partner still exists. The product job is to stop treating that partner as a totally separate universe from the store.

Delivery, QR, and local fulfilment

Not every order is a two-day surface shipment. Cafes and QSR use QR ordering for table or pickup flow. Some retailers do same-day local delivery with a rider. The catalogue should still be the Softpage catalogue. Delivery tools are for the orders that leave as parcels; QR is for the ones that never should have been a national AWB.

How to think about go-live

Launch the store with a tight serviceable area if you are new to shipping. Expand lanes when RTO and packing quality are under control. Read the FAQ for product scope, and the online store guide for the checklist that includes packaging and returns policy — those are operations, not a software toggle.
